Self-Portrait as Aquifer
June 21, 2008
As if flesh were permeable —
not flesh exactly, but the whole body
we carry around,
what we feel with —
like rock rain-sodden, permeable
channeler
(willing, unwilling)
of water’s need
to be going somewhere
like me right now
wanting to go out in the rain —
how could I have known how deep
you would enter me?
