This is a fascinating photograph. A sandhills hornet? I’m enjoying the juxtaposition between it’s fierceness and its delicate action.

We hope viewers will click on the image to see a larger version. This photo is all about texture for me: soft, hard, smooth, watery. So much to feel and ponder.

Yes. I had a feeling of texture and demensionality. The water drop has so much of these that it has a feeling of hardness or firmness, and this complements the hornet’s body. Then, the contrast between hard-and-smooth and furry is interesting, too.

Wow. Fabulous shot. Great textures, but also as Michael said the juxtaposition of fierce and delicate – it looks like a sweet little thing, but of course also dangerous.

The color is so rich, too. There is tremendous warmth in the image. Love it.
