Matinal
February 19, 2007
1.
Listen.
A twig snaps,
a leaf
turns,
two take
one breath.
2.
Dawn hasn’t come,
but while we wait
the air wakes and rains to earth;
night and day linger in a dream of muffled light
then tenderly divide.
Now you see.
Nothing breaks.

Very nice. I like the near silence, expectant. Makes me wonder who are the two, who are “we” and what their story is.
